The week before was crazy. If I could give a bride advice, it would be to take the week off before the wedding. I did, and it was a great decision. There are so many last minute things to do and my emotions were crazy. Stress was there, but I could not have been able to get through it if I had been working. Joe and I both took time off. My mom helped me run around the world to get things done and picked up. I had helpers to find out how much alcohol I needed (which I totally waited last minute for)...and helpers to help set up the cake table (my favorite part of the reception). The week before is almost a blur with all the errands and last minute things to get done. The rehearsal day was spent dropping off all the goods so the planner could take care of everything and then grabbing a quick lunch. A few of us got our nails done (which took a ridiculously long time of 4ish hours with an appointment). That meant, we were running super late to our rehearsal. We finally sped home, showered quickly and then ran to the church to practice how we were going to walk. Then, we finally relaxed for a moment and ate burgers at Fuddruckers! That place is amazing! Joe and I were blessed to have family that still joined us even though we did not cover the bill. I know it's tradition, but covering another dinner before a day that costs so much money, was just not affordable. We were grateful when most of the wedding party came. We treated everybody to cookies and then said goodbye. I have to upload all those pictures! We were still up late that night. My photographer finally emailed my engagement pictures so we sent them to walgreens, along with our here-is-what-to-do-during-the-break-between-the-rehearsal-and-ceremony handouts. haha. I'm not joking when I said there were a lot of last minute things to do! I would not have been able to handle it without my support team though!

Hey! I just came upon your blog! I'm also a soon-to-be Chicago bride, and was considering using the Smitten Bride for day-of coordination. I was wondering if they worked out for you? I will be doing a lot of DIY things for my wedding, and will need a lot of help setting up. There is a $750 coupon online right now, so I'm thinking of going for it.
ReplyDeleteBest Wishes!

Hey Elizabeth!
DeleteHiring the smitten bride was literally the best money I spent! They were so kind and helpful throughout the whole process'! I only hired them for the day of service, but they met with me a couple times and were quick to reply to my e-mails! They helped me stay calm and were fabulous! I'll write a review tonight on my blog! They were hired originally to help with my room change. They were so great they literally did my room change. I'll explain more later... I'm at work. Haha
Happy planning!
